The Xbox is a sixth generation video game console produced by Microsoft. It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market, and the Xbox was the first major console to wield a hard disk drive, used primarily for storing game saves compressed in ZIP archives and content downloaded from Xbox Live. This eliminated the need for separate memory cards. Its most successful launch game was "Halo: Combat Evolved" which was praised by critics. Its sequel, "Halo 2", is the best-selling first-generation Xbox game worldwide. Although there were several more popular second-party launch titles. including "NFL Fever 2002", "Project Gotham Racing", and "Dead or Alive 3".
